Portraits of America will focus on the American photography of one of the world's best photographers. About William Albert Allard

William Albert Allard was born in Minneapolis in 1937. Currently a staff photographer and writer for National Geographic magazine, he has contributed to over 25 magazine articles in his career. Allard has published four critically acclaimed books- The Vanishing Breed-which received the Leica Medal of excellence and the National Cowboy Hall of Fame and Western Heritage Award in 1982-The Photographic Essay, A Time We Knew, and Time at the Lake- A Minnesota Album. He lives near Charlottesville, Virginia. From the Trade Paperback edition.
