Gallery: A Life in Art by William Hardie is the story of his 50 years in the art world and his significant contribution to Scottish art. Before working at Christie's where Hardie set up Christie's Scottish Picture Department, he was Keeper and Deputy Director of Dundee Art Gallery. Later, he ran his own Glasgow gallery, and art dealership and presented many notable exhibitions such as Donald Bain, Stanley Cursiter and David Hockney. Hardie is author of Scottish Painting, and Glasgow Boys in your Pocket.

About William Hardie

William Hardie grew up in the west of Scotland. He was fine-art researcher at Glasgow University, then Keeper and Deputy Director of Dundee Art Gallery. As a director of Christie's, Hardie set up the Scottish Picture Department between 1977 and 1984. He formed William Hardie Fine Art in Glasgow in 1984, and within 10 years had discovered many wonderful pictures including a Reynolds now in the Stirling Smith. He travelled 40 times to Japan, and to the US, Europe, Tasmania in the search for art. He presented many key exhibitions at his gallery that include Stanley Cursiter, Donald Bain, George Dutch Davidson as well as David Hockney's Scottish debut in 1993.
