Ouyang Yao was born in Ningyuan County of Hunan Province in 1962. He studied in Lingling Branch of Hunan Normal College, Renmin University of China and Hunan University, and got the degrees of Master of Philosophy and Doctor of Economics. He became a professor in 2000. He was invited as a visiting research fellow by Hitotsubashi University of Japan in 2004, and worked as a visiting scholar in Georgia Institute of Technology, U.S. in 2007. He worked in the CPC Committee of Hunan Province and of Dongan County and the Peoples Government of Yongzhou City, in 2006, he took office as secretary of CPC committee and director of Big Country Economy Research Center of Hunan University of Commerce, and concurrently as Vice President of Socialism Economic Law System Research Association of China and President of Commercial Economy Society of Hunan Province. His main research orientation is international economy and regional economy. He has taken charge of researches of major project of National Social Science Foundation, major project of National Soft Science Research Program, project of Humanistic And Social Science Research Plan of the Ministry of Education and project of China Post-doctorate Science Foundation. He has published over 150 articles on newspapers and journals including Peoples Daily, Guangming Daily, Management World, China Industrial Economy, Chinese Rural Economy and China Soft Science, was awarded with excellent doctor essay prize of Hunan Province, second prize of social science research results of Hunan Province, second prize of scientific and technological progress of Hunan Province and first prize of higher education teaching results of Hunan Province, selected to the New century excellent talent support program of the Ministry of Education and New Century Talents Project of China, and receives special government allowance from the State Council.
