Earthian: v. 1: (Yaoi) by Yun Kouga
The volume is composed of short stories consisting of seemingly random human crises and the Angels' interactions with them. The stories are also sprinkled with some stories of the lives of Angels in heaven as well. Chapter 1 (Earthian): The first chapter of this long-running series introduces the basic plot outline as well as two main characters, Chihaya and Kagetsuya. Currently residing in California, Chihaya befriends a female astronaut, Janice, who is about to undergo the difficult and dangerous mission of fixing a satellite in outer space. However, Kagetsuya does his homework and realizes that the satellite is infact a military weapon, thus trying to point out the minus points of the Earthian. During an accident in outer space, Janice dies, but leaves with Chihaya her last words, praising on humans will keep on fighting for the next frontier. The next chapters take place in Hong Kong. Chihaya and Kagetsuya bump into a mysterious girl, who turns out to be the run-away sorceress, Daina, of a powerful Chinese underground mafia type family (Waki) who are now looking for her desperately. Chapter four, Christmas Summer, involves Chihaya and Kagetsuya's stay in Hawaii, in order to attend a gathering of Angels to discuss the messy business in Hong Kong, but is quickly ruined by Chihaya having his wings seen by a rather sleazy-looking Japanese photographer for a newspaper. After getting away from a tight spot, the Angel meeting goes off well, and the readers are introduced to more Angel characters, including Aya, a female Angel who is madly infatuated with Kagetsuya, has an obvious dislike for Chihaya and hopes he will get demoted. The third arc of the volume involves a human (actually part-cyborg) named Taki, and his relationship with Chihaya. In the second to last arc in the volume, entitled Phantom of the Opera, Chihaya and Kagetsuya now find themselves in London, where Lord Urielle, another of the Great Angels (and amazing opera singer) has come down to bother our two Angels. In the meantime, Chihaya makes friends with Henry, the manager of an up and coming simple chorus girl singer, Mary. Though in love with his client, Henry keeps denying his love (to prevent her from being hurt) and willingly gives her up to another man of the stage. The last chapter, Armed Angels Attack, talks about the phenomenon of fallen angels (or Lucifers) increasing in number. Fallen Angels apparently come about because of something called the Black Cancer, which makes an angel's hair and wings turn black. One of the feared Great Angels, Lord Seraphim, has become a Lucifer and though Kagetsuya and Chihaya are asked to find him, he already shows up at their doorstop, after Chihaya runs into a mysterious girl, Elvira, who was searching him out in an attempt to find a cure for the Black Cancer, which she believes Chihaya has.
