1937. First Edition. 431 pages. No dust jacket. Purple cloth covered boards with gilt. Pages are moderately tanned and foxed throughout. End papers are more notably tanned. Plates are bright and clear. Ex Libris plate to front paste-down. Minor pencil marking to front free end-paper. Cracking to hinges, no damage to end papers. Some occasional mild cracking to gutters throughout, binding is shaky. Boards have moderate edge-wear with bumping to corners and rubbing to surfaces. Moderate crushing to spine ends, with splitting, fraying and loss to the head, tail and joints. Gilt lettering has become dull. Moderate tanning to spine. Book has a slight forward lean. Boards have minor damp and dust stains.
