1853. 2nd and Enlarged Ed.. 472 pages. No dust jacket. Green cloth with decorations. Contains black and white, illustrations, plates, and maps - some of which are folded. Book has been recased. Ownership plate belonging to C E Stevens to reverse of frontispiece. Pages are noticeably tanned with visible foxing throughout. Pen annotations to most pages. Water staining to edges of pages, text is unaffected. Binding remains firm. Previous owner's inscription to front endpaper. Ex-libris plate to front pastedown. Faint black marks with some brown staining to pages, on occasion. Folded maps and plans are in good condition with minor tearing to edges. Boards have noticeable edge wear with corner bumping. Mild tanning to spine and edges with some crushing to spine ends. Gilt lettering is bright and clear. Minor fraying to spine edges and corners. Faint black marks and scratches overall.
