Edition De Luxe. Unpaginated. No dust jacket. White vellum covered boards with gilt. Contains many plates of black and white photos, tables and fold out colour maps. Gilt applied to top edge of text block, remaining sides are rough cut. Pages remain clear with minimal tanning and foxing. Plates are bright and clear. Text block edge is moderately foxed. Hinges are cracked with exposed netting. Some occasional mild cracking to gutters throughout, binding remains reasonably firm. Boards have moderate edge-wear with bumping to corners and rubbing to surfaces. Moderate crushing to spine ends, with splitting, fraying and loss to the head, tail and joints. Front board feels loose. Gilt lettering has become dull. Staining to vellum surfaces. Book has a slight forward lean.
