Making Peace with the Planet Barry Commoner
The author of this book argues that misdirected, costly and ineffectual efforts at environmental clean-up proves that controlling pollutants does not work. He argues that the pollutants must be eliminated from the production process itself, at the point of origin. Urgent steps to develop alternatives are necessary, according to the author, and among the suggestions are: ethanol fuel for cars; materials based on wood, cotton and paper as replacements for petro-chemical products; massive recycling campaigns. The author has also written Science and Survival and The Closing Circle.
