This book is about three examples of schools being transformed, not just temporarlly but permanently with only one change of "personnel" - the headteacher. Otherwise the staff were unchanged and the pupil intake remained the same. All three were schools whose morale was rock bottom, test and exam results were stuck far below acceptable levels, and they were problems to their local education authorities.
