Calligraphy Alphabets for Beginners Résumé

Calligraphy Alphabets for Beginners Mary Noble

This is a complete beginner's guide to learning how to do calligraphy. It starts with a brief history and a discussion of all the materials and equipment that will be needed. It then explores in depth 15 of the most commonly used alphabet styles, with emphasis on developing rhythm in writing by building up experience in similarly formed letter shapes, and practising combining them in repetitive exercises. The final section explores the use of colour and gold to enliven the pages. All in all, this is the ideal guide for anyone wanting to take up calligraphy.
