Stephen Dyson and his twin brother Tom served in the same troop in a tank regiment which in ten harrowing months fought its way from the Normandy beachhead into the heart of Germany, encountering en route some of the stiffest opposition faced by any Allied units in the last winter of the war. Steve's account of his experiences, based on the diary which, against the rules, he kept at the time, is remarkable both for its honesty and often unconscious humour.
